Camping September 6, '08

All of these photos, except for the first two, were taken in the Green Diamond Olympic Tree Farm outside of Hoodsport, Washington, next to the Olympic National Forest.


Here we are. departing from Lakewood.	Here is our cool new GPS unit that shows us the rivers, creeks, road, sun and moon phases, etc. We have also been enjoying how it shows where we have traveled on these old logging roads for easy reference later.	This is the end of the Skokomish Valley Road.

These blackberry leaves are showing some fall colors!	I love the forms these roots create.	We are on Green Diamond Resource Company property, and we really appreciate that they allow us to camp on their property! We promise to always leave the property better than we found it, and we only take pictures and warm memories!

The gate was open, so were able to make it to one our favorite spots to take pictures at, Vance Creek.	Dawn drove on to the end of the road at the Dry Bed Lake camping spot.	I love the natural colors found in the Dry Lake Bed Lake. The lake water does naturally appear to be this color, somehow!!!! It is amazing to see in person!!! This is the first time that we have been to this area.

I love the forest floor in this photo.	It looks like this stump is growing hair!	Cool moss hanging off this branch!

Dawn continued driving and saw the interesting patterns that the moss forms on this rock face.	Fall is on the way!	These moss-covered branches were in an alder bog off of the road.

After a bit more driving around, we made it to our goal, Haven Lake, to one of our favorite camping spots! Here is J setting up the tent!	This was an intriguing mushroom by our tent. We did not eat it- LOL!!!	A beautiful large tree with Haven Lake in the background.

These maple seeds are ready to take flight!	More maple leaves!	Another view of the logjam at the end of Haven Lake.


I love how these pictures of the far end of Haven Lake turned out!	I love the reflections in these photos!

Interesting patterns and colors.	A long exposure time in these two photos created these effects.

Water leaving Haven Lake.	There are bugs skimming along the water surface in this picture.	These logs are floating in Haven Lake.

A person can cross to the other side on these logs.	More logs!	Even more logs!

I love these funky ferns!	Interesting white flowers.	This leaf is half red, half green!

This tree has an injury- ouchie!	A whole lot of fir pitch- look at how it sparkles in the sun!!!	More logs in Haven Lake!

There is a cable growing out of the side of this tree!	The base of a large tree.	I love this burle!!!
