Here we are at the start of our lovely journey!!!

We were able to get on the road by 8 am- Yay!!

This is the first stop we made, outside of Hoodsport, WA. We continued driving on the same dirt road and came to this bridge high above the South Fork of the Skokomish River.

We continued to drive around with our new maps of the area, looking for some good camping sites.

Quite a while later, we took a break at this huge washout area alongside the road.

Yay for Foxglove!!! This was an interesting arrangement I found in the midst of the washout area.

I love the shapes and the natural lines on this old log, and how the harsh mid-day sun further gives a bleached appearance.

I love the colors and patterns in this culvert!!! After our break, we continued driving, and soon we found a nice camp spot with a view of Canyon River in the Olympic National Forest.
Look Cody, a BEAR PRINT!!!! We drove a bit further down the road and found an even BETTER camping spot-Yay!!!

Canyon River.
This was the area behind our tent. Another view of Canyon River. The base of a very large tree.

I love the roots on this huge tree! This moss is simply amazing!!!! Great moss on this tree!

Interesting shapes in these old trees! I love how the sun is shining behind these trees!

More cool moss!
I love how the sun streams through the trees!

Woody Woodpecker must have stopped here! Neat stump!
More moss on trees! I love the shape of these moss-covered branches!

The branches and sunlight form some interesting lines and patterns.

Maple Leaves!!! I love the patterns these ferns create!!!

A longer exposure time makes the water appear glassy. Calmer Canyon River.

Faster Canyon River!!
Dirty Car! BBQ Time! Dinner with a view!

Roasting star-shaped marshmallows on the BBQ.

Since they are smaller in size, the middle was able to melt better, which I liked!!!

Here's J on Sunday morning, enjoying his coffee and reviewing a map of the area.

There is a coyote on the far side of the river! It didn't even seem to notice I was taking it's picture!!!

After a morning of taking pictures and floating in the river, we really worked up an appetite for brunch, so we're glad we had turkey sandwiches (with bacon!)

We hope you enjoyed our photos!!!!
